Normally viewed from a distance and rarely hiked, Steamboat Rock is an off the beaten path location that only some locals know about. Not a place for a wedding ceremony with guests, but for sure an epic red rock location. The hike from the parking lot is about an hour each way and requires some actual rock climbing to reach the highest plateau. Only for advanced adventurers and a liability waiver will be required to sign. Minimum 3-4 hour booking.
While sunset is the optimal time, you need to be ready to head back right away in order to safely get down from the first set of climbing obstacles. Majority of the return hike will be in the dark. On a scale of 1-10 for hard to reach Sedona places, I would rate this 10 and a 12 for the epic scenery factor. Please inquire for another great location that is much easier to reach.
